This recipe combines two of my favorite recipes: cinnamon rolls & cake! In the past I’ve done a lot with cinnamon rolls: pie crust, giant layered cakes, & cookie dough infused. So it was only natural to combine cake into them somehow & come up with this recipe. Clearly I’m a sucker for any food hybrid: spaghetti & meatball burger, rice krispie pie crust, am I beginning to list too much? Oops! Anyways, this is the absolute perfect party treat–a must for everyone to try.
Simply use the dough recipe from our cinnamon roll layered cake, combined with the filling recipe below, & top it all off with the icing from our cake recipe as well as a TON more sprinkles & you’re golden. Or at least your cinnamon rolls will be!
- for the filling:
- ½ cup sugar
- ⅓ cup brown sugar
- ¾ cup all-purpose flour
- ½ cup funfetti cake mix
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- 2 sticks butter
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- In large mixing bowl, combine sguars, flour, cake mix, & cinnamon.
- Add in vanilla & butter. Whisk until smooth.
- Add in sprinkles.
